About Sort It Out: Category Sort

Sort It Out: Category Sort is a fast-paced, head-to-head card sorting game from Golem Kin Games. Cards stacked on a wooden tabletop grid each display an emoji or icon — animals, food, tech, sports, and more — and you race a rival to drop them into the correct category slots before the clock runs out. Each match runs 90 seconds, with both players tackling the same mix of stacked cards and gold goal slots labeled with categories like Animals, Food, or Tech. Whoever fills the most complete categories when time expires wins.

How to Play Sort It Out: Category Sort

Finish more categories than your rival before the timer hits zero. Each completed category scores 1 point, and ties go to you.

The Board

A 5×4 grid of cells sits on a wooden table. Gold category goal slots — for example, "Animals 0/6" — mark where matching cards must be dropped. Other cells hold stacks of cards, but only the top card of each stack can be grabbed. A shelf of 5 free slots runs along the bottom for temporary storage. Each match uses 3 categories, with 5–7 cards per category depending on difficulty.

Managing Cards

Drag the top card from any stack or from the shelf and drop it onto its matching category slot — a dog card goes on the Animals goal, for instance. Drop a card on the wrong slot and it snaps back. Drag a top card to an empty shelf slot to uncover the card underneath, or place it on any blank grid cell as a holding spot.

• Drop on shelf slot: Move a top card to an empty shelf slot to access the card beneath
• Drop on empty grid cell: Use a blank cell as a temporary holding spot
